Kate Becker serendipitously met Tori Sparks at her CD Release Party on a trip to Nashville. Imaging the possibility of combining their styles on one bill, Kate & Tori made a special connection that would take root 4 months later on Arizona turf. They are joined by recently awarded "Best Blues Band In Arizona" The Sugar Thieves, fronted by another desert diva, Meredith Moore, on several regional dates this fall.
With a velvet purse full of superbly crafted songs, this lineup has a whole lotta lady power. Influenced by the incomparable vocalists of the early days of jazz, reviving the spirit of the r&b soul singers of the sixties & seventies, these three artists maintain a remarkably unique sound, present yet timeless.
Kate Becker calls upon her roots in New York and Switzerland to create "...a fabulous combination of cool jazz, caberet, beat poetry and blues" [Downtown Tucsonan].
Recording her debut album with Jim Brady (Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris) The Kate Becker Project calls upon a pool of exquisite local talent to craft a jazz and r&b sound inspired by, and produced by, the southwest.

Tori Sparks hails from Nashville, and is in the running for 6 Grammy Nominations for her 2009 release The Scorpion in the Story, produced by David Henry (R.E.M., Ben Folds, more). Called “a knockout” by the Village Voice, her dynamic liveshow is equal parts eye-popping soul-singing, and zany stand-up-style humor.
