I don't know. I just heard/saw the song for the first time last night on the Idol Gives Back special and the consensus in my house was we are not 10-year-old girls, and therefore do not and are not supposed to "get it."
However: Is anyone else fascinated by the interesting identity problems inherent in the Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana thing? When does she stop being Hannah Montana and become Miley Cyrus? Is there a distinction? Is this what speaks to ten-year-old girls?
I've never seen the show, but do find it interesting that the theme of the show where Hannah Montana is ordinary kid by day, and rockstar by night, is a mirror image of the real life of Miley Cyrus. I think the Disney created Hannah Montana is solely responsible for the overwhelming success of Cyrus's career, and other than that, Miley is way overrated. There are plenty of cute kids that can sing & dance. If and when Disney drops the show, Miley will be pretty much done.
