Led Zeppelin and The Beatles both earn their places on the list because of the blandness of their music that is played to death on the radio. I know it's not entirely the bands fault, and radio tends to do that to everyone, but until I was in my 20's I never even listened to either of these bands actual records because of this fact; coupled with their legions of rabid fans who can't BELIEVE anyone would not think they are GODS and my disdain remains.
Led Zeppelin earns first place for being a little less original with all the blues riff thievery.
The Sublime/311/Ozlo B/Funky Bones rests firmly in the fact that I just can't stand white boy funk/reggae...I'd include the Red Hot Chili Peppers but they are so abysmal now I don't think anybody would argue with me. Include Janes Addiction and you have the unsurpassed shitfest. Seriously when the one song in your set that is a reggae jam has you singing about weed, and does not include anything funny, or even just interesting wordplay you need to put down the bong and the guitar.
I totally agree with you on the extreme dislike of Led Zeppelin. I have heard Zep so many damn times, i cannot stand to hear anything by them except maybe "Prescence" their next to last lp. That is the one that the radio almost never plays, so it is still somewhat fresh to my ears which crave variety! In the 70's Page and Plant were so very cocky and conceited, thinking they alone were Gods in the Rock world! They were way too Bluesy and Folksy for my tastes, Blues is one of my least favorite musical styles to listen to..... Now Budgie, The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, the Who, and Genesis (back when Peter Gabriel was still singer pre '75) those are the 70's bands i can still listen to with pleasure.... most of the other 70's crap can stay were it belongs.... in the past with djs who drive songs into the ground!!!!
Nah, just kidding. Those were the first three spontaneous thoughts. If I think about it a little harder:..
1) The Moody Blues - can't beat 'em in the 'boring' catagory.
2) The Rolling Stones - just because they're still around.
3) The White Stripes - half of a band that plays alot of noise.
"least favorite" as in, "I like them but they're at the bottom of the list?" or as in "I hate them with the passion of a zillion psychopaths off their meds?"
it is ambiguous - for me, "least favorite" as in "causes physical feelings of disgust and anger" - whether its the band's music or persona. But it can also be "least of my favorites", though that seems less fun...
nope, sorry. NO LOVE. Rush reminds me powerfully of every boring boy I ever knew in high school. Ugh.
Mr. Stephen Seigel forced me to watch them on Cobert's show recently, and yep, still hated them.
I am a person who was totally disgusted by American Radio well over 25 years ago, so i truly hate most stuff that dominates the airwaves! (Hint, i listen to underground, Punk, and mainly all kinds of Synthesizer-based electronic music which is never, never played on Tucson radio period!)
The tops on my hated list are
The Eagles Led Zeppelin Boston Journey Huey Lewis Lynryd Skynyrd Joe Walsh
and djs who are trapped in the embarrassing 70's!
