I had some people I wanted to recommend for nominations this year and today I see I get to vote for finalist only. I was out of town so I wasn't picking up Tucson Weeklys for the past couple of weeks but dude.
I want to state who I would have submitted here since I did not get a chance to in however the formal system works.
Male Vocals:
- David D'Alessio
- Brian Field
- Dave Bryan (Loveland)
Up and Coming:
- Brian Field
- Nobody, et al
- Butcher and the Melancholy (I know its my band but I would vote for us)
Rock:
- Gaza Strip
Female Vocals:
- Courtney Robbins
On the bright side, I was happy to see Loveland on the country ballad and Cathy Rivers (Little Black Cloud) on the vocals!
Joshua: We did the first round of voting for TAMMIES like we've done voting every year for the last decade or so: With mail-in ballots printed in the Tucson Weekly for a month or so, starting with Spring Club Crawl. Those votes determined the Readers' Choice finalists; a panel of a dozen and a half local critics voted in the same categories to determine the Critics' Choice finalists. Sorry for the confusion. --Jimmy Boegle
Thanx Jimmy, I always seem to miss the ballots for some reason. I wasn't trying to be a dick, I just see a lot of music in town and I think some of the best acts I have seen missed the votes and some of the ones that I really don't care for seemed to have made the list.
I just wanted to acknowledge who I thought should be recognized.
JB
Josh: No worries; thanks for the feedback. Just remember that we always kick off TAMMIES voting with Spring Club Crawl. Hope to see you at the TAMMIES Wednesday eve! -- Jimmy Boegle
Josh - Perhaps you should start your own local music awards ceremony, for all the people who were out of town & forgot to vote in the TAMMIES. You could call it the BUTCHIES.
No sweat, man - just "joshing" you, as it were. In the spirit of Tucsonscene.com, keeping the snark alive.
It seems that the rules of the game were clearly laid out from the word go. There will always be some of us, in any contest, whose favorite candidates fail to go the distance.
I appreciate your advocacy for your faves though, and in all honesty must decline credit for the photos. Would be that I had taken them, yet they are merely a collection of shots of some of my own preferred musical acts complied from various sources.
